A & AA Baseball
A & AA baseball is open for ages 6-14 year olds. Age is determined on May 1, 2010.
The AYL 2010 A & AA season, will consist of 14 league games, with a double elimination playoff, for a minimum of 16 games played April through July.
League games will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning Friday April 2, 2010 and will be concluded Sunday June 13, 2010. Teams will play no more than 3 games per week during the 11 week season. League games will not be scheduled on Easter Sunday, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day weekend, or July 4th weekend. In the event of game cancellations, makeup games could be played Monday June 7, 2010 through Thursday June 10, 2010 at the discretion of the AYL Baseball Board. There will be no bye requests for the A & AA level.
At the conclusion of the 14 league games, ALL TEAMS will be seeded for the double elimination playoffs. Teams will play until they have lost two games. Playoff games will begin Wednesday June 18, 2010 with the World Series played July 9 – 11, 2010, at the Metzlers complex in Castle Rock. No playoff games will be scheduled between Thursday July 1, 2010 through Sunday July 4, 2010. The World Series will be a single game championship game. Therefore, the undefeated team representing the winners bracket in the World Series game does not need to lose twice to be eliminated.
The AYL will conduct a pre-season AYL Memorial tournament that will be played beginning Friday March 5, 2010 through Sunday March 14, 2010. The AYL Memorial tournament will be comprised of 3 exhibition games, there will be no trophies, results, standings or champion. The intent is to provide teams with the ability to assess their team in a structured, uncompetitive environment in advance of the regular season game play. The AYL Memorial tournament is optional to all teams. There is an AYL Memorial tournament entry fee.
COSTS/REGISTRATION:
A/AA fees for ages 6 and 7 are $175.00. A/AA fees for ages 8 and 9 are $225.00. A/AA fees for ages 10 through 14 are $275.00.
Early Registration will begin December 3, 2009 and end on January 31, 2010. Players not registered by that date cannot be guaranteed a place on a roster. Players returning to teams from the prior year risk losing their place on that team with a late registration. Any player registering after January 31, 2010 will be assessed a $25.00 late fee. Late registration will close when all teams are full. A $25 fee will be charged on all registrations cancelled up until March 1, 2010. After March 1, 2010, there will be no refunds.
A/AA Players will be placed on teams at CCYS' discretion taking into consideration past teams, ability and parent requests.
COACHES INFORMATION:
There will be a mandatory head coaches meeting for all teams planning to play A/AA baseball through CCYS and AYL this spring/summer on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Greenwood Village City Hall. This is a chance to have all your questions answered.
